Reweaving the place of nature: two contemporary women poets

Abstract: This article examines two women poets, the Brazilian Arriete Vilela and the Caribbean poet living in Britain, Grace Nichols, with the aim of showing the way they deal differently with notions of space and place in nature, approaching these notions through ecocriticism, feminism and other interdisciplinary readings.Their poems present an understanding of nature that involves an interconnection between human and more-than-human in a relationship that may be seen as harmonious and problematic.
