Revisiting the thermal ageing on the metallised polypropylene film capacitor: from device to dielectric film

Abstract: Metallised polypropylene film capacitors (MPPFCs) are widely used in power electronics and are generally degraded by elevated temperatures. This work aims to determine the relationships between the structural changes of MPPFC and the microstructural variations of the PP film during the thermal ageing of MPPFC at 100°C for 38 days. The capacitance of MPPFC has a slight decrease during thermal ageing. However, the breakdown voltage of the MPPFC decreases by 39.4% by the ageing. The partial discharge (PD) number … Show more

“…Table 1 explains the comparative study of compounds Lattice parameter (Å), Volume (Å) 3 and bandgap energy. It is evident from the study that the values in the current investigation are comparable to the values reported in literature [ [41] , [42] , [40] ]. The literature showed that computational study has not explained the physical properties yet.…”

“…The material type and electrode porosity; the concentration, size, and distribution of catalyst particles on the electrodes; and the working temperature determine the current exchange density. Regarding platinum catalysts, electrodes with anodes have current exchange densities ranging from to , and electrodes with cathodes have current exchange densities ranging from 10 to [ 13 ]. According to this article, the current exchange density for an anode based on a platinum catalyst is 10 , and the current exchange density for a cathode is 10 [ 40 ].…”

“…In fuel cells, due to the abundance of water on the anode and cathode (due to the transfer phenomenon), the entire membrane can be considered humid. is usually in the range of 14 to 21; in this research, its value was considered to be 21 [ 13 ]. In order to determine the performance of the system, efficiencies were utilized.…”

“…Several technical issues should also be resolved to further enhance the operating potential of integrated SCs, including electrode material modication, surface charge optimization, and suitable electrolyte selection. [10][11][12] We intended to make an integrated electrode that combines the capability of a wider operating potential and high energy density via a novel strategy of "two birds with one stone" for nextgeneration SPCs that surpass the traditional systems. 9,13 This strategy will provide more benets than asymmetric SCs by overcoming energy storage systems' efficiency in terms of both mass and size constraints with enhanced features of energy storage and expanding the SC applications in cutting-edge applications in which conventional technologies frequently fail.…”
