Nowadays, a considerable number of production processes depends on the development of information technology. At the same time, almost every market participant has the opportunity to use digital transformation, which makes this process not only useful, but also affordable. At the same time, there is an increase in labor productivity and a decrease in costs, which, ultimately, positively affect the final cost of the manufactured product. It means that while maintaining the quality of products, an increase in its competitive advantage is achieved by reducing costs. An analysis of the available sources shows that Russia has a stable indicator in the global ranking of digital competitiveness, but its place is far from being the leading one. Obviously, there is an acute need to accelerate the digital transformation of the domestic economy. In this regard, in order to accelerate digital transformation, it is advisable to develop appropriate national regulatory legal acts. The article draws attention to the fact that with the full-scale introduction of the latest information technologies, systematic training of personnel will be required; a due respect should be paid to veteran workers. In the course of digital transformation, it is proposed to develop, first of all, a typical digital industrial platform of an enterprise, which could solve not only routine business processes of an enterprise, but also optimize management as a whole. For all the importance and relevance of the study of this problem, at present, the major statistical studies can be found mostly in the consulting agencies' reports and not in research literature. The article discusses the definitions of the digital economy and analyzes the tasks that can be solved using digital transformation, which is especially significant for high-tech engineering enterprises. The research resulted in developing recommendations for the digital transformation of high-tech engineering enterprises.

The digital economy (DE) is emerging as a crucial driver of economic growth and an effective tool for alleviating resource and environmental pressures, thereby evolving into a significant force in facilitating green transformation. This study elaborates on the theoretical mechanism of the impact of DE on green total factor productivity (GTFP), and conducts multidimensional empirical tests using panel data from 284 cities in China. The main findings are as follows: (1) DE exerts significant positive direct, indirect, and spatial spillover effects on GTFP, signifying its growing role as a robust driver of GTFP. Notably, technological innovation emerges as a key mediator of DE’s impact on GTFP. (2) The impact of DE on GTFP exhibits a distinct pattern: initially pronounced, gradually diminishing, and then rebounding as DE progresses. (3) DE tends to exacerbate, rather than alleviate, the development divide and resource curse, especially in underdeveloped and resource-rich cities where its benefits are constrained. (4) Government behavior is pivotal in influencing DE’s impact on GTFP. Supportive policies and strict environmental regulations are critical in harnessing DE’s positive contributions to GTFP. This study lays a scientific foundation for leveraging the “green attributes” of DE and offers insights into bridging the developmental disparities among cities.

The rural digital economy plays an essential role in China’s industrial upgrading, transformation, and urban–rural integration. To determine the state of China’s rural digital economy, we constructed a county-level evaluation system using the subjective–objective evaluation method and calculated the digital economic levels of 2085 counties. Then, we analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics, spatial autocorrelation pattern, spatial disequilibrium degree, and spatial driving force of the rural digital economy at the county level using spatial analysis technology and a self-organizing feature mapping model. The results are as follows: 1) Compared with the real economy, the agglomeration effect of the digital economy was more obvious, and the economic gradient was more significant. Specifically, the dense high-value regions formed a continuous belt on the eastern coast from the Beijing–Tianjin area to the Pearl River Delta, opposite the dense low-value regions in the west. 2) There were significant differences in the rural digital economy within cities or provinces. Intraregional differences were not necessarily linked to the overall digital economy level because central and northeastern China presented a more balanced rural digital economy. 3) Digital network performance, e-commerce level, and economic vitality were identified as the core factors influencing the rural digital economy.
