Abstract:Recent studies have provided new information on glycerol hydrochlorination in the presence of carboxylic acids as homogeneous catalysts; particularly interesting is the fact that a part of the carboxylic acid is esterified in some of the steps in the reaction mechanism. Inspired by this observation and the previously proposed mechanism for glycerol hydrochlorination, new kinetic equations were derived. By using the quasi-equilibrium approximation for the reaction intermediates, the rate equations take into acc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
