Revisiting simplified dark matter models in terms of AMS-02 and Fermi-LAT

Abstract: Abstract:We perform an analysis of the simplified dark matter models in the light of cosmic ray observables by AMS-02 and Fermi-LAT. We assume fermion, scalar or vector dark matter particle with a leptophobic spin-0 mediator that couples only to Standard Model quarks and dark matter via scalar and/or pseudo-scalar bilinear. The propagation and injection parameters of cosmic rays are determined by the observed fluxes of nuclei from AMS-02. We find that the AMS-02 observations are consistent with the dark matter… Show more

“…This signal, if confirmed, is compatible with a DM interpretation of the Galactic center γ-ray excess (GCE) for a variety of annihilation channels. It is also expected to provide a detectable signal in antideuterons [22], and it is compatible with a variety of different beyond-the-standard-model scenarios [21,[23][24][25][26][27][28][29]. However, given the small experimental errors, several important sources of systematic uncertainties, which before could be neglected, now become increasingly important and need to be further investigated.…”

“…We note that both AMS-02 anomalies have been widely studied, either as constraints on DM models or as potential signatures thereof [23][24][25][26][27][28][29]. The anti-proton case has been argued to be highly significant and most in agreement with the annihilation via b-quarks of a 40 − 70 GeV WIMP with some potential for heavier masses [23].…”

“…We ensure that measured spectra of the AMS-02 anti-proton results [22] and other constraints are not exceeded. These particular astrophysical data sets are of interest as they have been extensively studied as potential signatures of DM [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31]. This DM model is then used to make predictions for radio observations with the MeerKAT precursor to the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).…”

“…Assuming that DM particles have frozen out in the early Universe, as standard thermal relics, they acquire their present abundance through annihilation processes. The pairs of DM particle χ in the simplified models can either annihilate into SM quark or gluon pairs via s-channel processes χχ → a → q q, gg or annihilate into two mediators χχ → aa when kinematically allowed [32][33][34][35][36]. The amplitudes of the two annihilation channels are governed by g χ g q and g 2 χ , respectively.…”
