Revision of Vajiralongkorn Dam’s Reservoir Characteristic Curves Using NDWI Derived from Landsat 8 Data

Abstract: Reservoir characteristics are the essential information for water management planning and reservoir operation. Regular monitoring and assessment of the reservoir characteristics can reduce risks associated with the reservoir operation. This research assessed the reservoir characteristics (water surface, volume) of Vajiralongkorn Dam using remote sensing. Reservoir water surface was classified using the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) derived from the Landsat 8 data, and validated using the streamline … Show more

“…The water pixels of the study area were extracted using the water map generated by applying Normalised Difference Water Index (NDWI). This index is widely used for the delineation of the surface water bodies employing Sentinel imagery in diverse aquatic ecosystems (McFeeters 1996;Ouma and Tateishi, 2006;Lu et al, MSIL1C 22-05-2016MSIL1C 22-05- , 7-5-2017MSIL1C 22-05- , 12-5-2018MSIL1C 22-05- , 17-5-2019MSIL1C 22-05- , 21-5-2020MSIL1C 22-05- , 26-5-2021MSIL1C 22-05- 16-02-2017MSIL1C 22-05- , 21-2-2018MSIL1C 22-05- , 16-2-2019MSIL1C 22-05- , 21-2-2020 -2016, 14-05-2017, 29-05-2018, 24-05-2019, 28-05-2020, 13-05-2021 09-02-2016, 03-02-2017, 28-02-2018, 13-02-2019, 18-02-2020, 22-02-2021 2017; Deng et al, 2020;Phankamolsil and Kositsakulchai 2020) including reservoirs Anand et al (2019a;.
