Central to the entire discipline of heritage restoration and conservation is the concept of information management. Nevertheless, traditionally, conservation and restoration has been a poorly documented discipline, which has led not only to a lack of standardization and awareness about the processes carried out in the past, but also poses problems both when new restoration works are necessary and for the preventive conservation of the elements of heritage. This study sets out to propose a conceptual framework to explore the relationship between conservation of heritage and information management on the basis of case studies; in particular: a spatial data infrastructure (SDI) of a regional government concerning an endangered plant (wild grapevine) with an important potential for cultural and touristic uses in a wine-making region; an open data guide—the Digital Guide of Andalusian Cultural Heritage; a university repository connected to Europeana, which contains reports and outcomes of projects of geometric documentation of elements of heritage; a repository of an organization in charge of the protection and care of the heritage; and finally, two examples of the use of heritage building information models (HBIM) in complex monuments. After discussing the characteristics of each case, this paper concludes that, although the availability of information and tools is growing, further progress is still necessary concerning the interoperability, outreach and reuse of the different solutions.

Objectius: es presenta una descripció detallada de les principals característiques i funcionalitats de l'Omeka S, un sistema de gestió de continguts de programari lliure per a la creació de repositoris i biblioteques digitals, utilitzat àmpliament en projectes d'humanitats digitals d'índole diversa.<br /> Metodologia: l'anàlisi de les característiques de l'Omeka S s'ha realitzat a partir d'una revisió de la literatura publicada, la informació disponible en el lloc web i la documentació oficial de l'aplicació, i també mitjançant la seva instal·lació, ús i anàlisi. La descripció de l'aplicació es complementa amb una recopilació de diversos casos d'ús de caràcter internacional en l'àrea de les humanitats digitals que mostren la versatilitat de l'eina. Finalment, s'ofereix una comparativa amb cinc aplicacions més de programari lliure disponibles al mercat: Omeka Classic, CollectiveAccess, Mukurtu, ResearchSpace i Arches.<br /> Resultats: entre els principals punts forts de l'Omeka S, destaca la seva facilitat d'instal·lació, manteniment i ús, la seva arquitectura multilloc, la facilitat per integrar vocabularis del web semàntic com ontologies, la seva flexibilitat per crear plantilles de descripció per als objectes digitals, la llibertat en el disseny de les pàgines que formen la interfície pública, o la seva integració nativa amb altres sistemes de gestió de repositoris com DSpace o Fedora Commons, amb la qual cosa es pot implementar com a plataforma per a la gestió i publicació de recursos derivats del repositori, o com a capa d'accés públic als seus objectes digitals, respectivament. D'altra banda, la gestió d'un projecte amb l'Omeka S requereix un esforç inicial més gran derivat de la seva gran flexibilitat. Finalment, el sistema es mostra menys competent en l'accés a la base de dades, el qual no és possible de manera nativa per mitjà de consultes SPARQL.

This research aims to describe and assess the characteristics of Dédalo, a software for the management of audiovisual documentation, or media asset management (MAM), specialized in managing intangible cultural heritage or oral memory. An analysis of this software will not only help librarians, archivists and documentalists, historians, and anthropologists present their audiovisual collections, but also all kinds of professionals who manage audiovisual documentation from both private and public entities. This paper includes the use of MAM by the oral memory management sector, in both national and international terms, with particular mention of a software derived from Dédalo, Numisdata, for the management of digitized numismatic heritage.. Resumen Esta investigación realiza una descripción y valoración de las características de Dédalo, un software de gestión de documentación audiovisual o media asset management (MAM) especializado en gestionar patrimonio cultural, material, inmaterial o memoria oral. Conocer este software puede ayudar a los bibliotecarios, archiveros y documentalistas, antropólogos e historiadores, pero también a toda clase de profesionales que gestionen documentación audiovisual, tanto de entes privados como públicos, a dar a conocer con éxito, de forma fácil y rápida, las colecciones audiovisuales de sus instituciones y organizaciones. Se describen algunos casos de su utilización en el sector de la gestión de memoria oral, tanto nacionales como internacionales, entre los que se incluyen casos de un software derivado de Dédalo, Numisdata, para la gestión del patrimonio numismático digitalizado.
