“…However, neither scheme is supported by the latest chronostratigraphic data (Z. S. Li, Jia, et al, 2020; Su, 2016; H. Zhang et al, 2019; Zhu et al, 2020). The provenance areas of the Mesoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic strata in Lushi–Luanchuan and Mianchi–Queshan subregions were located in the north and south, respectively (G. H. Hu, Zhao, & Zhou, 2014; X. Y. Li, Li, et al, 2020; M. Li, Wang, & Wang, 2013; X. F. Liu et al, 2019; M. Wang et al, 2020a; M. Wang, Zhou, & Zhang, 2020b; Yue & Liu, 2017; Zhu et al, 2011; Zhu, Qiu, Pang, & Zhai, 2019; Zuo, Li, Zhang, et al, 2019), indicating that the Mesoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic palaeogeographic patterns of the XER were remarkably different. Similar provenance transition is obtained in the Wufoshan Group of the Song–Ji subregion from the subsequent provenance analysis, indicative of comparable sedimentary sequences and basin evolution among three subregions of the XER.…”

“…The unconformably overlying Luanchuan Group comprises metamorphic clastic and carbonate sediments of coastal–neritic facies, intercalated with alkaline volcanic rocks at the top, and is subdivided into the Sanchuan, Nannihu, Meiyaogou, Dahongkou, and Yuku formations. Unconformably overlying the Luanchuan Group, the Early Palaeozoic Taowan Group primarily consists of metaclastics deposited in a deep‐water slope environment (Z. S. Li, Jia, et al, 2020; Zuo et al, 2019).…”
