In islanding operating mode of microgrid, the voltage and frequency of system must be maintained by the microgrid, or else the system will crumble due to the characteristics of different distributed generators (DG) utilized in microgrid. The voltage and frequency lost provision when main grid is disconnected. This paper presents PI controller based voltage controller to regulate voltage to its normal condition. The controller is proposed to be utilized individually with each distributed generator (DG) in microgrid. The controller compares inverter output voltage with voltage at point of common coupling (PCC) and its output is feed to PWM pulse generator to generate appropriate pulses for inverter to regulate voltage to its nominal value. The simulation results of proposed system are shown using MATLAB/Simulink platform.

Abstract:The control of low power systems, which include renewable energy sources, a local network, an electrochemical storage subsystem and a grid connection, is inherently hierarchical. The lower level consists of the wind energy sources (power limitation at rated value in full load regime and energy optimization in partial load regime) and photovoltaic (energy conversion optimization) control systems. The present paper deals with control problem at the higher level and aims at generating the control solution for the energetic transfer between the system components, given that the powers of the renewable energy sources and the power in the local network have random characteristics. For the higher level, the paper proposes a mixed performance criterion, which includes an energy sub-criterion concerning the costs of electricity supplied to local consumers, and a sub-criterion related to the lifetime of the battery. Three variants were defined for the control algorithm implemented by using fuzzy logic techniques, in order to control the energy transfer in the system. Particular attention was given to developing the models used for the simulation of the distributed energy system components and to the whole control system, given that the objective is not the real-time optimization of the criterion, but to establish by numerical simulation in the design stage the "proper" parameters of the control system. This is done by taking into account the multi-criteria performance objective when the power of renewable energy sources and the load have random characteristics.

Summary A model predictive current control (MPCC)‐based single‐phase shunt active power filter (SAPF) is proposed in this manuscript to improve power quality by harmonics and reactive power compensation. The DC link capacitor voltage regulation‐based PI control algorithm is used for the computation of SAPF reference current signal. The current commands are tracked using the MPCC. In this manuscript, the control technique effectiveness is demonstrated through MATLAB simulation and experimentation with Cyclone‐IV EP4CE30F484 FPGA board under dynamic operating conditions. The obtained results from a simulations and hardware prototype shows the proposed algorithm shows perfect reference current tracking at every sampling instant and excellent dynamic performance. Subsequently, the main advantages of this proposed controller are absence of internal current control loops and modulation stage.
