Review On Activated Carbon: Synthesis, Properties And Applications

Abstract: Many researchers have reported that a number of control methods were used in waste water treatment. In this work, there are several types of agricultural wastes and fruits were employed to synthesis activated carbon via chemical activation and physical activation process. The obtained activated carbons indicated higher surface area and larger adsorption capacity. This paper describes experimental findings on uses of activated carbon in wastewater treatment, which produced under different conditions such as con… Show more

“…The process of adsorption occurs due to the van der waal forces and chemical bonding with electrostatic attractions between the activated carbon and the foreign particles 24 , 25 . Its wide range of applications includes water and air purification, cosmetics, chemicals, and pharmaceutical manufacturing 2 , 10 , 26 . All these processes work on the principle of adsorption.…”

“…22,23 Bamboo has moderately high carbon content (48.64%) and low amounts of nitrogen (0.14%), sulfur (0.11%) and hydrogen (6.75%). 24 Carbon obtained from bamboo is rich in minerals, including magnesium, calcium, potassium, and sodium. 22,24 Using it as a lter increases drinking water quality because its minerals are dissolved in water.…”

“…24 Carbon obtained from bamboo is rich in minerals, including magnesium, calcium, potassium, and sodium. 22,24 Using it as a lter increases drinking water quality because its minerals are dissolved in water. Compared with modern carbon lters, bamboo carbon has the added benet of a built-in team of microbes working on decomposing toxic substances; hence, the water is clear of harmful substances, yeasts, and microbes.…”
