Review of the Subfamily Hirstionyssinae, Synonymy of Echinonyssus Hirst and Hirstionyssus Fonseca, and Descriptions of Four New Species of Echinonyssus (Acari: Laelapidae)1
“…Mites were identified to genus using various published and unpublished keys (e.g., Strandtmann, 1949;Loomis, 1956;Evans and Till, 1966;Herrin, 1970;Furman, 1972;Fain and Hyland, 1974;Coffman and McDaniel, 1975;Brennan and Golf, 1977;Krantz, 1978;Tenorio and Radovsky, 1979;Hammen, 1980;Golf et al, 1982). An Olympus BHS Model Microscope, equipped with Nomarski polarizing differential interference contrast, was used to examine the mites.…”

DUCA abundant species were combined to express their ecological significance, which enabled to characterize each locality and season. Similarity indices (Jaccard, Gower) showed a clear association between the 4 most abundant species. The first two factors of a correspondence analysis accounted for 48.7% of the total variation and separate the localities fairly well. Factor 2 is strongly associated with HJ., a species mostly found in deep nests from an orchard. As the nests were not collected at all localities throughout the year, our conclusions concerning seasonal trends, differences between localities, effects of altitude or vegetation, should be taken with caution.1.de la forme fouisseuse du campagnol terrestre Arvicola terrestris L."
