“…The upper part of the Khanasir Limestone Member was given a Santonian-Campanian age by El-Asa'ad who referred the Hajajah and Lina members to the Maastrichtian. The El-Asa'ad stratigraphic framework was agreed by El-Nakhal and El-Naggar (1994) and retained by Sharland et al (2001).…”

“…El‐Asa'ad (1983b) proposed a Coniacian age for the lowermost part of the Khanasir Member, based on the occurrence (but with no illustration) of the ammonite Tissotia tissoti (Peron) (Figure 10). The upper part of the Khanasir Member was assigned a Santonian‐Campanian age, based on the presence of the rudist Eodictyoptychus arumaensis (El‐Nakhal & El‐Naggar, 1994; Sharland et al, 2001; Skelton & El‐Asa'ad, 1992). However, other workers (Le Nindre et al, 1990; Powers et al, 1966; Vaslet et al, 1988, 1991) proposed a Late Campanian age to its lower part based on record of the ammonite Libycoceras acutodorsatus (Figure 10).…”
