Since the structure is completely mobile, lack of central coordination, multi hop communications and limited resources provided by MANETs, QoS techniques need to be optimize the scare resource. A lot of research has been focused on providing QoS assurance in MANETs. The most important QoS metrics are packet delivery ratio, delay, through put and energy. It is a challenging issue to incorporate QoS to ad-hoc multicasting. In this paper the QoS metrics of multicast routing protocols ODMRP, AM Route and PUMA have been simulated using NS2 and analyzed. General TermsThis paper exposes the simulation and performance analysis of ODMRP, AM Route and PUMA over 25, 30, 35, 40,45 mobile nodes using NS2.34 simulator.

Opportunistic Routing (OR) has been proposed to improve the efficiency of unicast protocols in wireless networks. In OR, in contrast to traditional routing, instead of preselecting a single specific node to be the next-hop forwarder, an ordered set of nodes (referred to as candidates) is selected as the next-hop potential forwarders. In this paper, we investigate how OR can be used to improve multicast delivery. We propose a new multicast routing protocol based on opportunistic routing for wireless mesh networks, named Multicast Opportunistic Routing Protocol (MORP). MORP opportunistically employs a set of forwarders to send a packet toward all destinations. Each forwarder is responsible for sending the packet to a subset of destinations. Based on the candidates that successfully receive the packet in each transmission, MORP builds a tree on the fly. We compare our proposal with two well known ODMRP and ADMR multicast protocols. Our results demonstrate that MORP outperforms ODMRP and ADMR, reducing the number of data transmissions and increasing the delivery ratio.

Abstract:The core objective of our approach is to build a highly strong forwarding group and a stable mesh structure using fuzzy inference system. The fuzzy inference system takes multiple interrelated QoS parameters such as residual bandwidth (RB), residual energy (RE), link loss ratio (LLR), end-to-end delay (D), number of intermediate nodes (N) and link expiration time (LET) to find a strong node from a set of mobile nodes. A node can be classified as strong when the fuzzy cost probability (FCP) is high otherwise it is classified as a weak node. The proposed fuzzy cost probability-based multi-constrained QoS multicast routing (FCPMQMR) consists of two phases. The first phase performs the selection of forwarding node using fuzzy logic technique. The second phase builds a stable backbone mesh structure. In case of node failure, an alternative path from the primary route through another forwarding node is selected for communication. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed FCPMQMR improves the packet delivery ratio by 5%-10% success ratio by 35%, and decreases the average end-to-end delay by 10%-15% and control overhead by 45%.
