Review of Modern Control Technologies for Voltage Regulation in DC/DC Converters of DC Microgrids

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of modern feedback control methods for the voltage regulation in DC/DC converters of DC microgrids. Control objectives and practical restrictions are defined and used as indicators for the analysis and performance assessment of the control methods. After presenting the concept of each control method, the advantages and limitations in the converter applications are discussed. The main conclusions of this overview can be used as recommendations for the selection of the suitable co… Show more

“…The adaptive control scheme is shown in Figure 14. 86 In Zolfaghari et al 87 a new control method for power management of microgrids based on a PV system is proposed. In this approach to control the power of each inverter, Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) have been implemented.…”

“…The preferred parameters in the traditional PID controller are: Kp = 0.03, Ki =0.001, Kd = 0.0002 [32]. First, assume that the PV system operates under standard atmospheric conditions, with an initial sunlight intensity of 1000 W/m 2 , a temperature of 25°C, and a rated bus V dc = 600 V. Under this condition, it is assumed that the sunlight intensity and load demand are constant, and the output power of the PV system is lower than the load.…”

“…The obtained idfrd variable (3) was used to estimate the control transfer function using the system identification toolbox estimate transfer function model (4), which returned an idtf (transfer function model with identifiable parameters) variable [26] as an output. In the estimation, the number of poles and zeros were defined (5). In this case, it was known that the number of poles was equal to three and the number of zeros was equal to two.…”

“…Digital control offers better flexibility compared to analog control, and in many applications this allows for the implementation of additional features or additional control loops without additional expenses. With recent advancements in DC grids and microgrids, the fast and stable control of voltage has become even more important [5,6], and, therefore, voltage control will be the focus of this paper.…”
