In this study, an image processing algorithm was developed to increase readability of the images of specific parts of a KTX train acquired by using a mobile digital radiographic testing device in a situation where a running train is stopped. The image processing algorithm was realized by using a Visual C++ development tool.The algorithm developed in this study allows to select an interested region in the acquired images when the interested region is suspected to cause a problem, and applies a thinning process based Sobel operators to the selected region. The experimental results show that the readability of defect parts that are not visible to naked eyes was increased through edge detector. Application of the algorithm developed in this study may help to accurately read non-destructive inspection images. ▸Keyword : Non-destructive test, Image processing, Algorithms, Sobel operator I . In t r o duct i o nDue to the economic development and enhanced industrialization, Korea's high precision industry is rapidly growing. A representative example of Korea's high precision industry is the Gyeongbu KTX railroad which has been operated for about 10 years as well as the Honam KTX railroad which has started to be operated from 2015, both of them are considered as a collection of high precision instruments. Therefore, safe operation of high precision instruments is necessary, and the demand for non-destructive inspection will continuously increase as continued inspection is required to seek safety.

This study confirms that the Medipix2 x-ray detector enables spectroscopic bio-medical plain radiography. We show that the detector has the potential to provide new, useful information beyond the limited spectroscopic information of modern dual-energy computed tomography (CT) scanners. Full spectroscopic 3D-imaging is likely to be the next major technological advance in computed tomography, moving the modality towards molecular imaging applications. This paper focuses on the enabling technology which allows spectroscopic data collection and why this information is useful. In this preliminary study we acquired the first spectroscopic images of human tissue and other biological samples obtained using the Medipix2 detector. The images presented here include the clear resolution of the 1.4mm long distal phalanx of a 20 week old miscarried foetus, showing clear energy-dependent variations. The opportunities for further research using the forthcoming Medipix3 detector are discussed and a prototype spectroscopic CT scanner (MARS, Medipix All Resolution System) is briefly described.

X-ray can be applied to obtain a projection image of an object. It is not easy to obtain an high quality image for the object composed of low and high density materials. For the object with large difference in density, it is possible to realize high contrast image using images of low and high tube voltages and image processing. The plastic and metalic parts of the electronic components can be imaged by the dual energy technique which use low and high tube voltages and by processing pixel-by-pixel using visual C++. The contrast-enhanced image can be used to detect and observe defects within the electronic components.
