Review of Hybrid Methods for Deep-Penetration Neutron Transport

Abstract: Methods for deep-penetration radiation transport remain important for radiation shielding, nonproliferation, nuclear threat reduction, and medical applications. As these applications become more ubiquitous, the need for accurate and reliable transport methods appropriate for these systems persists. For such systems, hybrid methods often obtain reliable answers in the shortest time by leveraging the speed and uniform uncertainty distribution of a deterministic solution to bias Monte Carlo transport and reduce t… Show more

“…Therefore, rationally designing rubber-based composites with excellent shielding of mixed radiations and good flexibility is of vital significance to the personnel security in nuclear industry. [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] It is believed that incorporating high loading heavy metals meanwhile boron compounds into rubbers can be used for shielding mixed neutron and γ-rays. 14,[21][22][23] On the one hand, huge disparity in the physiochemical properties between inorganic fillers and rubber matrices generally occurs.…”
