Esthetics can be described study of the beautiful, it objectives beauty and elicits pleasure. Esthetic materials can be described as those that closely mimic the tooth structure. There are large number of aesthetic material that have become available in the market. The variety of restorative options accessible to clinicians has changed spectacularly over the period of last 30 years. In 1981, the materials decisions to be made by a new dentist were very dissimilar than what they are nowadays. A progressively more mystifying array of potential new materials has now seen a way into the market. The dentist must decide material of choice for a particular case without relying on the claims the manufacturer promises. This review article emphasizes on the newly introduced materials such as Ormocers, Cention N and Zirconomers, and materials which are under research, and may see an introduction into the market in the near future for e.g. an antibacterial composite and a Glass ionomer cement incorporating bioactive glass, their advantages over the traditional predecessors and their properties.

One of the main goals of dental treatment is to mimic teeth and design smiles in a most natural and aesthetic manner, based on the individual and specific needs of the patient. Possibilities to reach that goal have significantly improved over the last decade through new and specific treatment modalities, steadily enhanced and more aesthetic dental materials, and novel techniques and technologies. This article gives an overview of the evolution of aesthetic dentistry over the past 100 y from a historical point of view and highlights advances in the development of dental research and clinical interventions that have contributed the science and art of aesthetic dentistry. Among the most noteworthy advancements over the past decade are the establishment of universal aesthetic rules and guidelines based on the assessment of natural aesthetic parameters, anatomy, and physiognomy; the development of tooth whitening and advanced restorative as well as prosthetic materials and techniques, supported by the pioneering discovery of dental adhesion; the significant progress in orthodontics and periodontal as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery; and, most recently, the implementation of digital technologies in the 3-dimensional planning and realization of truly natural, individual, and aesthetic smiles. In the future, artificial intelligence and machine learning will likely lead to automation of aesthetic evaluation, smile design, and treatment-planning processes.

All of us want and desire to look attractive. Esthetic dentistry in Prosthodontics is the branch that focuses on natural look of the teeth- to be beautiful. Esthetic is a Greek word 'estheticos' which is insightful. It is related to pleasure or good-looking. In 1950, this word was invented and esthetic revolution started in 1970s. This article deals with recent techniques and restorative materials used in Prosthodontics as in Rpd, Fpd, Maxillofacial, Implant, Smile like composites, ceramics, ormocers, cention N, zirconomers and in near future antibacterial composites. Ultimately it is the dentist's choice to mimic tooth structure and make it lifelike as much as possible.
