[Abstract]Objectives : ThepurposeofthisstudywastoexaminetheeffectsofAcoriGraminieRhizoma Pharmacopuncture(PA-AG)atGV20oncerebralischemia-induceddementiainMice. Methods : Miceweredividedintothefivefollowinggroups:normal,control,acupuncture,PA-AG(17mg/kg),andPA-AG(34mg/kg).Allgroups,exceptthenormalgroup,hadcerebralischemiainducedbyocclusionofmiddlecerebralartery.Thecontrolgroupwasnottreated. Theacupuncture,PA-AG(17mg/kg),andPA-GA(34mg/kg)groupsweretreatedeveryother daywithatotalof6treatments.TheeffectoftreatmentwasobservedbyBax,Bcl-2,Bax/Bcl2ratio,cytochromec,cresylviolet,andcholineacetyltransferasestaining. Results : InthePA-AG(34mg/kg)group,theintensityofBaxwasdecreasedandtheintensity ofBcl-2wasincreased.TheBax/Bcl-2ratioalsodecreasedinthePA-AG(34mg/kg)group. TheintensityofcytochromecproteinstainwasdecreasedinthePA-AG(17mg/kg)group. Thedensityofneuronsstainedbycresylvioletandcholineacetyltransferase(ChAT)wasincreasedintheAT,PA-AG(17mg/kg),andPA-AG(34mg/kg)groupswhencomparedwith thatofthecontrolgroup. Conclusion : PA-AGatGV20waseffectiveoncerebralischemia-induceddementiainmice.
