Reverberation Mapping of the Gamma-Ray Loud Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxy 1h 0323+342

Abstract: Recently, 1H 0323+342 has attracted a lot of attention as one of several narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies detected in the γ-ray band. To understand their central energy engines and jet phenomena, the black hole mass is important. We made use of the Lijiang 2.4 m Telescope to monitor 1H 0323+342 for more than two months. This galaxy is one of the candidates for a monitoring project of super-Eddington accreting massive black holes. The reverberation mapping shows that Hβ emission has a delayed response of -+ 14.8 … Show more

“…The size of the BLR is about 15 light days (3.9 × 10 16 cm or 0.013 pc), as derived from the measurements of Hβ and Fe II reverberation mapping (15 +4 −3 and 15 +7 −4 light days, respectively) [13]. This size is consistent with the expected external radius of the accretion disk (∼ 10 4 r g , [20]).…”

“…The estimate of the mass of the central black hole in narrow-line Seyfert 1 Galaxies is at the center of a long-standing debate (see [10] and references therein for the latest information). In the case of J0324 + 3410, the values are of the order of 10 7 M ( [1,2,11,13,12]), with two exceptions [9,14]. The available values and adopted methods are summarised in Table 1.…”

“…• A confirmation of the new reverberation measurements for the outliers from the Bentz et al (2013) relationship at low/moderate Eddington ratios is strongly required. “…1H 0323+342 = J0324 is the closest γ NLS1. Hosted by a spiral galaxy or an interacting late-type galaxy (Zhou et al 2007;Antón et al 2008;León Tavares et al 2014) with a BH mass from reverberation mapping of 3.4×10 7 M (Wang et al 2016), this NLS1 has the lowest γ ray luminosity of the sample, but because of its short distance it was detected by Fermi soon after its launch (Abdo et al 2009c). This object was detected in hard X-rays for the first time by INTEGRAL (Bird et al 2007;Malizia et al 2007), but it was classified as a regular Seyfert.…”
