Revealing the complete mitogenome sequence of Hypsugo alaschanicus based on next generation sequencing

Abstract: Hypsugo alaschanicus belong to Chiroptera, which is the only type of mammals with the real ability to fly. The complete mitochondrial genome of H. alaschanicus based on next generation sequencing data thus determined had 37 genes for 13 proteins, 22 tRNAs, and 2 rRNAs together with a major non-coding region in a typical gene arrangement of vertebrate mitogenomes. Phylogenetic analysis shows that Pipistrellini is multiline origin, Pipistrellus -like bats … Show more

“…At the time of publication, only few bat mitogenomes had become available and even today this is still the only mitogenome purportedly of this species. As a result, KF111725 or NC_022474 have been re-used in at least 17 phylogenies (Hwang et al 2016;Locatelli et al 2016;Monadjem et al 2016;Qian et al 2016;Yu et al 2016;Zhang et al 2016;Jebb, Foley, Kerth, et al 2017;Jebb, Floey, Puechmaille, et al 2017;L opez-Wilchis et al 2017;Mata et al 2017;Shi et al 2017;Platt et al 2018;Huang et al 2019;Yue et al 2019;Tang et al 2020).…”

“…For these reasons, this bat was not included in further analyses. A phylogeny was built using two Eptesicus serotinus (Nam et al 2015) and one Hypsugo alaschanicus (Shi et al 2017) as outgroups (Figure 1). This phylogenetic tree reveals the two western individuals forming their own clade.…”
