“…In all cases, the tuberculin test was strongly positive, which is in agreement with the fact that Lupus vulgaris occurs in immunocompetent individuals. 13,14 The presentation was that of a hyperpigmented plaque with central scarring and atrophy over the right hand, similar to the common presentation described in previous studies. 8,13,14 We could not find any case reports of HIV coexisting with cutaneous TB.…”

“…Similar results are reported in previous studies. 12,13 Special stains (slit skin smear and Fite-Faraco) showed more consistent results in the lepromatous pole of the disease (Leprosy). Hence their utility is limited in the diagnosis and management of leprosyas their sensitivity was 44.8% for SSS and 28.5% for Fite-Faraco staining which is correlated with the other studies.…”

“…However the study of Bezbaruah R and Baruah M, and Abubaker SD et al, neoplastic lesions were the major entites of the total cases studied[16,17].On comparing the overall correlation between the clinical and histopathological diagnosis of all the papulonodular lesions we recorded 79% of cases histopathological diagnosis was consistent with the clinical diagnosis. Other studies done byPatil R et al, and Gupta P et al, recorded a overall concordance of (89.33%) of 75 cases and 85% of 282 casaes, variation noted between the studies may be due to the difference in nature of lesions encountered in the study period[7,8] as shown in.…”

“…Clinical history, age, sex and various sites of the lesion is important. 2 Cytology and skin biopsy form the basis of differential diagnosis in clinically similar nodular lesions thereby yielding important information to the pathologist and dermatologist. 3 Skin biopsy is preferred over Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) due to their access for excision.…”
