“…Differences in inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria may contribute to the variations in OS (e.g., patients with fewer and smaller metastases might have received a complete resection or ablation and would have a better prognosis). Long-term outcomes of RFA alone for hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer are encouraging[22][24], and the combination of RFA and liposomal chemotherapy is believed to increase hepatic tumor destruction and improve survival[25],[26]. For patients with a third metastatic site, such as distant lymph node metastases, prognosis was worse.…”

“…Most clinical data on CRLM ablation are based on experience with RFA, especially with the percutaneous approach [ 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 , 50 ]. The mRECIST criteria are the current standard methods to determine the treatment efficacy, evaluating the extent of necrosis by comparing the tumor dimensions before and after the ablative treatment [ 51 , 52 ].…”

“…Kwanet. al evaluated a total of 63 CRLM patients (109 tumors) treated with RFA, and they identified that average tumor-free survival was 14.4 ± 1.4 months (range, 1-43 months), and local recurrence was occurred in 31.2% of treated tumors (34/109) [16]. Microwave ablation is another technique for ablation that is used for particularly small metastases in CRLM.…”
