Table tennis is one of the sports that are particularly popular among university students. Given the significant differences in students' athletic abilities and physical functions, how to improve their competitive level and physical health has becoming noticeable problems via table tennis. To solve problems such as passive student participation, insufficient training, an imbalance between in-class and extracurricular activities, and low levels of physical fitness, this study utilized a 3 + 1 digital class to activate student interesting and a combined teaching and competition platform to enhance table tennis skills, which was explored the impact of integrating in-class and extracurricular table tennis elective courses on improving students' physical fitness and competitive levels. The results indicate that students table tennis competitive abilities and physical health have significantly improved after the reform, which is provides references for enhancing the quality of table tennis instruction, improving university students’ physical health, and promoting the universal applicability of table tennis teaching reforms in higher education institutions.
