Traditional college English lectures, writing, and translation over wireless networks have several problems. As a consequence, research and development for fifth-generation (5G) technologies are already beginning. High data speeds, decreased latency, energy savings, low cost, increased system capability, and large-scale device connectivity are all characteristics of 5G, the fifth generation of mobile communication technology. The 5G network is a wireless network interaction approach for the digital cellular network that allows for massive volumes of data traffic and a large number of wireless connections. The newest 5G technologies must be incorporated into the curriculum to attain higher-order educational capacities. Educators must fully use network resources, especially 5G network interaction tools, to improve English lecture, writing, and translation, as the fast expansion of 5G network interaction methods provides a fresh viewpoint for English lecture, writing, and translation. In this paper, we design a 5G-enabled Genetic Algorithm- (GA-) based approach for college English lectures, writing, and translation. The proposed method can promote resource sharing, empower teacher-student connections, and improve students’ overall English writing performance by researching this novel kind of network. The proposed method is further improved by incorporating 5G network-dependent English writing and interaction tools. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art methods.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought drastic changes to English teaching as it has shifted from the offline mode before the pandemic to the online mode during the pandemic. However, in the post-pandemic era, there are still many problems in the effective implementation of the process of English teaching, leading to the inability of achieving better results in the quality and efficiency of English teaching and effective cultivation of students’ practical application ability. In recent years, English speaking has attracted the attention of experts and scholars. Therefore, this study constructs an interactive English-speaking practice scene based on a virtual character. A dual-modality emotion recognition method is proposed that mainly recognizes and analyzes facial expressions and physiological signals of students and the virtual character in each scene. Thereafter, the system adjusts the difficulty of the conversation according to the current state of students, toward making the conversation more conducive to the students’ understanding and gradually improving their English-speaking ability. The simulation compares nine facial expressions based on the eNTERFACE05 and CAS-PEAL datasets, which shows that the emotion recognition method proposed in this manuscript can effectively recognize students’ emotions in interactive English-speaking practice and reduce the recognition time to a great extent. The recognition accuracy of the nine facial expressions was close to 90% for the dual-modality emotion recognition method in the eNTERFACE05 dataset, and the recognition accuracy of the dual-modality emotion recognition method was significantly improved with an average improvement of approximately 5%.

Thanks to the booming technology of computers and multimedia, student-centered online teaching resource platforms have become an important way for students to learn. However, English teaching resource platforms at the present stage fail to effectively integrate the massive and scattered learning resources. Based on this, the study proposes an English online teaching resource sharing platform based on mobile Web technology, using the SOAP protocol to deploy heterogeneous data resources as Web services to achieve interchangeability between heterogeneous resources. In addition, to enhance the efficient use of learning resources by students, the study proposes a hybrid algorithm based on collaborative filtering algorithm and sequential pattern mining algorithm to achieve personalized sequential recommendation for students. The results show that the platform created by the study exhibits excellent performance in terms of resource transfer capability, achieves efficient teaching resource sharing in a short response time and also shows that the proposed recommendation algorithm is highly accurate.
