RETRACTED: Neuroprotective effects of tannic acid against kainic acid-induced seizures in mice

Abstract: Background Epileptic seizures are associated with the release of potentially neurotoxic amount of glutamate, which results in the over-production of free radicals and inflammatory factors, and induction of neuronal cell death. Current study evaluated the effect of tannic acid (TA) on Kainic acid (KA)-induced seizures in mice. Methods Mice were divided into the six groups. Group I was administrated with normal saline (NS; 1 mL/kg, intraperitoneally (i.p.)), Group II was injected with KA (15 mg/kg, i.p.), Groups… Show more

“…Briefly: tissue samples were digested with lysis buffer in specific conditions for each kit, and after centrifugation, the supernatant was used as a sample for ELISA test. The activity of oxidative stress enzymes including: Catalase (Teb Pazhouhan Razi [TPR], Iran), Malondialdehyde (Teb Pazhouhan Razi [TPR], Iran), Superoxide dismutase (Teb Pazhouhan Razi [TPR], Iran), and Glutathione peroxidase (Teb Pazhouhan Razi [TPR], Iran) was measured by turbidometry using an Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent (ELISA) reader (Avecina Plus reader, Pishtazteb Diagnostics, Iran) and the activity of each enzyme was determined (Hasanvand et al, 2022; Korfi et al, 2021).…”
