RETRACTED: Long Noncoding RNA OIP5-AS1 Promotes the Progression of Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma via Regulating the hsa-miR-26a-3p/EPHA2 Axis

Abstract: Numerous studies have suggested that dysregulated long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) contributed to the development and progression of many cancers. lncRNA OIP5 antisense RNA 1 (OIP5-AS1) has been reported to be increased in several cancers. However, the roles of OIP5-AS1 in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) remain to be investigated. In this study, we demonstrated that OIP5-AS1 was upregulated in LIHC tissue specimens and its overexpression was associated with the poor survival of patients with LIHC. Furthermo… Show more

“…Previous studies have reported that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) play important roles in multiple diseases ( 9 , 10 ). Among these ncRNAs are long ncRNAs (lncRNAs), which are >200 nucleotides in length ( 11 ).…”

“…HCC is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality worldwide due to its poor prognosis and high aggressiveness. 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 Although various therapeutic strategies have been adopted for HCC patients, the prognosis is still poor. 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 Clarifying the molecular mechanisms and processes of the pathogenesis of HCC and identifying promising biomarkers are essential for identifying new therapeutic targets and improving patients’ outcome with this disease.…”

“…OIP5-AS1 may sponge miR-34a, and then upregulate the expression of its downstream target snail, thereby promoting invasion and migration of OC cells. OIP5-AS1 has been characterized as an oncogenic lncRNA in many types of cancer [16][17][18]. In lung cancer, OIP5-AS1 targets miR-448 and Bcl-2 to regulate the proliferation and apoptosis of cancer cells [14].…”

“…LncRNAs are abnormally expressed in a variety of human malignant tumors, and these abnormally expressed LncRNAs can be used as biomarkers for early clinical diagnosis. Recently, it has found that OIP5-AS1, as a novel lncRNA, is abnormally expressed in multiple tumors and can be used as a clinical biomarker for liver hepatocellular carcinoma and adenocarcinoma [ 16 , 17 ]. However, its expression pattern and biological role in OC have not been well studied.…”
