In recent times, the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Blockchain technologies have quickly gained pace as a new study niche in numerous collegiate and industrial sectors, notably in the healthcare sector. Recent advancements in healthcare delivery have given many patients access to advanced personalized healthcare, which has improved their well-being. The subsequent phase in healthcare is to seamlessly consolidate these emerging technologies such as IoT-assisted wearable sensor devices, AI, and Blockchain collectively. Surprisingly, owing to the rapid use of smart wearable sensors, IoT and AI-enabled technology are shifting healthcare from a conventional hub-based system to a more personalized healthcare management system (HMS). However, implementing smart sensors, advanced IoT, AI, and Blockchain technologies synchronously in HMS remains a significant challenge. Prominent and reoccurring issues such as scarcity of cost-effective and accurate smart medical sensors, unstandardized IoT system architectures, heterogeneity of connected wearable devices, the multidimensionality of data generated, and high demand for interoperability are vivid problems affecting the advancement of HMS. Hence, this survey paper presents a detailed evaluation of the application of these emerging technologies (Smart Sensor, IoT, AI, Blockchain) in HMS to better understand the progress thus far. Specifically, current studies and findings on the deployment of these emerging technologies in healthcare are investigated, as well as key enabling factors, noteworthy use cases, and successful deployments. This survey also examined essential issues that are frequently encountered by IoT-assisted wearable sensor systems, AI, and Blockchain, as well as the critical concerns that must be addressed to enhance the application of these emerging technologies in the HMS.

ÖzCOVID-19 pandemisinin yol açtığı kısıtlamalar insanlığın bu gerçeğe uygun bir yaşam biçimi geliştirmesini zorunlu kılmıştır. Özellikle zorunlu ihtiyaçların karşılanması gereken bir sektör olan sağlık hizmetlerinde teknoloji kullanımı bu gereksinime bağlı olarak artış göstermiştir. Bu durum hem insan ihtiyaçlarının güvenle karşılanabileceği hem de fiziksel temas söz konusu olmadan insanların iletişim kurabileceği sanal bir evren olarak Metaverse kavramına olan ilgiyi artırmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı pek çok sektörde köklü değişimlere yol açması beklenen Metaverse kavramının sağlık hizmetlerinin geleceğine nasıl yön vereceğinin, sunduğu fırsatların ve barındırdığı zorlukların değerlendirilmesidir. Bu kapsamda Metaverse teknoloji bileşenleri olarak ele alınan genişletilmiş gerçeklik, yapay zeka, blok zincir, bilgisayarlı görü, kullanıcı etkileşimi, ağ, sınır bilişim, robotik ve nesnelerin interneti (IoT) gibi teknolojilerin sağlık hizmetlerindeki mevcut uygulamalarına yer verilmiştir. İlgili teknolojilerin Metaverse entegrasyonu ile birlikte uzaktan sunulabilecek sağlık hizmetleri için damgalama korkusu yaşayan ruh sağlığı ve cinsel yolla bulaşan hastalıkları bulunan hastalar, ileri yaşlılar ve çocuklar potansiyel hedef grupları olarak öngörülmüştür. Metaverse'ün sağlık turizmi, insan kaynağı, sağlık hizmetlerinde tedavi etkinliği, eğitim, hasta memnuniyeti ve veri yönetimi gibi pek çok konuda potansiyel fırsatlar ve avantajlar sunması beklenmektedir. Bununla birlikte Metaverse teknolojilerinin kullanım maliyeti, mahremiyet ihlalleri, veri gizliliği ve güvenliği ile bireylerin bu teknolojileri yoğun olarak kullanması sonucunda ortaya çıkabilecek sanal bağımlılık, sosyal izolasyon, davranış bozuklukları, artan kaygı ve stres gibi zorluklar da çalışmada değerlendirilmiştir.

To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2019 has seen unprecedented demand for medical equipment and supplies. However, the problem of waste treatment has not yet been given due attention, i.e., the traditional waste treatment process is done independently, and it is not easy to share the necessary information. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the interaction between parties is minimized to limit infections. To evaluate the current system at medical centers, we also refer to the traditional waste treatment processes of four hospitals in Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh cities (Vietnam). Almost all hospitals are handled independently, lacking any interaction between the stakeholders. In this article, we propose a decentralized blockchain-based system for automating waste treatment processes for medical equipment and supplies after usage among the relevant parties, named Medical-Waste Chain. It consists of four components: medical equipment and supplies, waste centers, recycling plants, and sorting factories. Medical-Waste Chain integrates blockchain-based Hyperledger Fabric technology with decentralized storage of medical equipment and supply information, and securely shares related data with stakeholders. We present the system design, along with the interactions among the stakeholders, to ensure the minimization of medical waste generation. We evaluate the performance of the proposed solution using system-wide timing and latency analysis based on the Hyperledger Caliper engine. Our system is developed based on the hybrid-blockchain system, so it is fully scalable for both on-chain and off-chain-based extensions. Moreover, the participants do not need to pay any fees to use and upgrade the system. To encourage future use of Medical-Waste Chain, we also share a proof-of-concept on our Github repository.
