RETRACTED ARTICLE: Potential Start Codon Targeted (SCoT) and Inter-retrotransposon Amplified Polymorphism (IRAP) Markers for Evaluation of Genetic Diversity and Conservation of Wild Pistacia Species Population

Abstract: Wild pistachio species is important species in forests regions Iran and provide protection wind and soil erosion. Even though cultivation and utilization of Pistacia are fully exploited, the evolutionary history of the Pistacia genus and the relationships among the species and accessions is still not well understood. Two molecular marker strategies, SCoT and IRAP markers were analyzed for assessment of 50 accessions of this species accumulated from diverse geographical areas of Iran. A thorough of 115 bands we… Show more

“…Population structure was analysed using a model-based approach, Bayesian method, in STRUCTURE ver.3.0 software 72 . Since dominant markers were used in this study, each class of the accessions of wild Prunus species was treated as a haploid allele 73 . Model-based cluster analysis was used to test the number of populations (K).…”

“…Karim Sorkheh et al used IRAP for germplasm analysis of wild Pistacia chinensis [16], and Ahmad Mousapour Gorji et al used SCoT to analyze the genetic fingerprint of tetraploid potatoes [1]. We used 20 μL of the IRAP and SCoT molecular markers in both studies.…”

“…Start codon targeted (SCoT) polymorphism is a gene-targeted marker, which was developed based on short conserved start codon in plant genes (Collard and Mackill, 2009). SCoT markers are highly variable and reproducible and have been widely used to survey population genetics and phylogenetics (Guo et al, 2014; Feng et al, 2015; Sorkheh et al, 2016). However, SCoT markers have been seldom used in landscape population genomics to detect adaptive loci in genomes.…”
