“…Although first reported to be expressed in adipocytes, analysis of mice carrying a LacZ knockin to the RBP7 gene locus suggested that expression of RBP7 was essentially endothelial specific (12). Similarly, we confirmed that RBP7 is expressed in the endothelial cell (CD31 and NOS3 positive) fraction of kidney, lung and aorta (25).…”

“…We first examined vascular function in RBP7-deficient mice to determine if, like PPARγ, RBP7 plays a role in regulating endothelial function. Although the RBP7deficient mouse model is a global knockout, the endothelial specificity of RBP7 expression suggests that functionally the model acts as an endothelial-specific knockout (12,25). We showed that under baseline conditions endothelial-dependent vasodilation was normal in RBP7-deficient mice.…”

“…Cerebral basilar arteries were cannulated onto glass pipettes and pressurized at 60 mmHg, and vascular reactivity experiments were conducted using a Danish Myograph Technology (DMT) system as previously reported (11,16,24,58,59). Mice were euthanized as described above, and the basilar arteries were isolated, cleaned of connective tissues, and cannulated onto glass pipettes filled with oxygenated Krebs buffer in an organ chamber.…”
