Abstract:This article examines the basis of power of the Krasnoiarsk Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies in 1917. It challenges the still-commonplace ‘dual power’ paradigm, using Krasnoiarsk as an example to counter the contention that soviets seized outright power in particular localities.
