Neste artigo, analisamos como estudantes construíram discursivamente articulações entre os domínios conceitual, epistêmico e social do conhecimento científico. A turma investigada estava no 1° ano do Ensino Fundamental e estudava a biologia de um inseto. Para construção e análise de dados, utilizamos aspectos da Etnografia em Educação. Foi realizada observação participante, registros em áudio e vídeo, além de coleta de artefatos produzidos pelos estudantes. Os resultados indicam que o uso de recursos instrucionais, organizados em torno do trabalho com perguntas, geraram diferentes caminhos para as articulações entre os três domínios, evidenciadas no discurso oral dos participantes. A ênfase no par [epistêmico+social] conferiu um caráter mais investigativo ao contexto instrucional, possibilitando a melhor compreensão do processo de construção do ensino de ciências por investigação. Discutimos implicações para a prática pedagógica e para pesquisa em Educação em Ciências.
