Resumming soft and collinear contributions in deeply virtual Compton scattering

Abstract: Abstract:We calculate the quark coefficient function T q (x, ξ) that enters the factorized amplitude for deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) at all order in a soft and collinear gluon approximation, focusing on the leading double logarithmic behavior in (x ± ξ), where x ± ξ is the light cone momentum fraction of the incoming/outgoing quarks. We show that the dominant part of the known one loop result can be understood in an axial gauge as the result of a semi-eikonal approximation to the box diagram. We t… Show more

“…The idea is similar to that of the soft-collinear resummation for a light hadron wave function [34,41]. The difference arises from the effective heavyquark field involved in the definition of the former, which modifies the ultraviolet behavior of the evolution kernel.…”

“…In conclusion, let us stress that our results point to the importance of understanding higher order effects, and maybe of resumming series of large contributions [7]. They demonstrate that current attempts [8,9,10,11,12] to extract physics from DVCS data are but a first step in a long range program which will include data analysis from low to very high energy [13].…”

“…Neither did we comment on recent progresses in higher twist contributions [13] nor on the effect of resummation of higher order QCD corrections [14]. The physics of generalized parton distributions is definitely a domain of work in progress, both on the theory and on the experimental side.…”
