Restrictions of Weathering on Phosphorus Migration and Enrichment of the Lower Cambrian Phosphorus-Bearing Rock Series in Eastern Guizhou

Abstract: Phosphorite deposits in eastern Guizhou belong to a typical type of marine sediments. Phosphorus-bearing layers are distributed at the bottom of the Lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation. Generally, the average content of P 2 O 5 in phosphorite deposits is 13.01%. In this study, significant P enrichment on or near the phosphorite deposit surface was found, and the average content of P 2 O 5 reached 24.76%. However, the migration and enrichment mechanisms of P in the supergene environment still lack in-depth resea… Show more

“…Most of the bound REEs are bound to organic matters. Thus, the organic matter-bound state is an important mode of REE occurrence in the REE-bearing phosphate ore in Xinhua, and it may be related to the presence of a certain quantity of organic matters in this phosphate ore [37].…”

“…The P 2 O 5 grade of phosphate ore in China is generally low, with medium to low grade phosphate ore accounting for over 90%. Phosphorus ore flotation tailings (POFTs), an industrial solid waste generated in the process of phosphate mining, contain a large number of Mg, Ca, and P resources. China produces nearly 10 million tons of POFTs per year. However, the overall utilization rate of POFTs is only about 10% .…”
