Restraining deactivation of hierarchical zeolite supported NiW catalysts in the HDS of thiophene

Abstract: NiW catalysts supported on g-Al 2 O 3 (NiW/Al 2 O 3 ), commercial Beta (NiW/HB) and hierarchical Beta prepared by base-acid treatment (NiW/HB-M) were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N 2 sorption, infrared spectroscopy (IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).The catalytic performance of these catalysts was evaluated in the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of

“…The soft template-assisted synthesis, especially with surfactants, is mostly used for preparing HZs than for designing the efficient HDS catalysts. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, This is because the structure of soft templates can be controlled by changing their functional groups or by tuning the packing parameter, which in turn offers a versatile way to fabricate the mesopores . The postmodification strategies such as demetalation, ,,, compaction method (extrusion ,, and granulation), and steaming are occasionally reported for preparing the HZs, which are subsequently used in designing efficient HDS catalysts.…”

“…For Ni 2p 3/2 , the spectrum can be deconvoluted into four peaks. The peaks with binding energies around 852.8 and 853.8 eV are attributed to Ni 2+ in NiS x and NiWS, respectively, 50 while the peaks around 856.5 and 862.0 eV are attributed to Ni 2+ in NiO and its shake-up satellite line, respectively. 54 , 55 Because of the electron transfer from Ni to its WS neighbor in the NiWS phase, the binding energy of Ni 2+ in the NiWS phase is higher than that of Ni 2+ in NiS x .…”

“…The W 4f spectrum of WLDS-300 can be deconvoluted into three doublets arising from the 4f 5/2 and 4f 7/2 lines of W 4+ , W 5+ , and W 6+ . For the fitting, the area ratio of 4f 7/2 to 4f 5/2 is kept at 4:3 and the doublet separation is around 2.1 eV. , The W 4+ state with a binding energy around 32.2 (4f 7/2 ) and 34.3 eV (4f 5/2 ) relates to WS 2 . The peaks at 32.8 and 34.9 eV are indicative of 4f 7/2 and 4f 5/2 of the W 5+ species in WS 3 , respectively .…”
