Restoration of a Nonvital Tooth with Fiber Reinforce Composite (Wallpapering Technique)

Abstract: Introduction. Reconstruction of endodontically treated tooth (ETT) is one of the greatest challenges in dentistry. Clinical success of fiber reinforcement composite (FRC) restorations in ETT depends on many factors like remaining tooth structure, knowing advantages of adhesive dentistry besides its drawbacks, and the correct use of fibers in combination with resin composite. Case Report. This article presents a case in which fibers have been used in composite buildup in order to increase the toughness and stre… Show more

“…while restorations with fiber reinforced Composite would alter the stress dynamics at the restoration-tooth interface; The addition of fibers to resin composites improves their fracture toughness and flexural strength. The architecture of fibers creates a network that inhibits crack growth (Valizadeh et al 2020). According to the result of this study; wallpapering technique with incremental layering showed the highest mean of fracture resistance following the control group with statistically no significance with the incremental layering group alone (group B).…”

“…Restoration materials should have a modulus of elasticity similar to dentin (17.8 GPa) to create a homogeneous stress distribution and reduce the incidence of root fracture. 7,12,40,41 The results showed the stress concentration on polyethylene fiber-reinforced composite restorations did not exceed the strength of the materials. E-glass fiber has an elastic modulus of 8.87 GPa.…”

“…O estudo avaliou a resistência à fratura de cavidades MOD restauradas com EVXP em comparação com as FV, em uma técnica também chamada de "wallpapering technique" (Valizadeh et al, 2020). Os autores alegaram que, por meio da força aplicada na velocidade de 0,5mm/min, os DTE restaurados com EVXP (1994,8N) apresentaram resistência superior ao outro grupo analisado (1716,7N).…”
