Restoration Method of a Blurred Star Image for a Star Sensor Under Dynamic Conditions

Abstract: Under the dynamic working conditions of a star sensor, motion blur of the star will appear due to its energy dispersion during imaging, leading to the degradation of the star centroid accuracy and attitude accuracy of the star sensor. To address this, a restoration method of a blurred star image for a star sensor under dynamic conditions is presented in this paper. First, a kinematic model of the star centroid and the degradation function of blurred star image under different conditions are analyzed. Then, an … Show more

“…where n sub j represents the number of all subsets containing the i th star s i and N is the total number of observed stars. The calculated q s i has the same meaning as k i in Equation (18). Therefore, it can be substituted into Equation (22) to calculate the normalized weight of the attitude determination process.…”

“…Until now, several studies have presented strategies for utilizing star sensors in situations involving degradation. However, the predominant focus has been on strengthening the robust detection [ 18 ] and identification [ 8 , 19 ] of stars. As a result, the need arises for a method to quantify the varying levels of accuracy among stars and to incorporate this information into attitude determination for enhanced precision.…”

“…In the case of star sensors with small field-of-view (FOV), even muddled star image spots must be included in the attitude estimation process. In such cases, the improvement in star-centroiding accuracy of blurred image spots, owing to the star tracker’s dynamic operating environment, is discussed in [ 31 ].…”
