RESTful M2M Gateway for Remote Wireless Monitoring for District Central Heating Networks

Abstract: In recent years, the increased interest in energy conservation and environmental protection, combined with the development of modern communication and computer technology, has resulted in the replacement of distributed heating by central heating in urban areas. This paper proposes a Representational State Transfer (REST) Machine-to-Machine (M2M) gateway for wireless remote monitoring for a district central heating network. In particular, we focus on the resource-oriented RESTful M2M gateway architecture, and p… Show more

“…Figure 9 shows a basic framework of a web service based system. Devices especially sensors in manufacturing processes are encapsulated by a uniform devices abstraction approach based on Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGi) technology [ 25 ], and heterogeneous data and device operations can be accessible with a uniform web service interface. It should be noted that, the details about the control on manufacturing devices are out of the scope of this paper which mainly seeks to solve the traceability problem.…”

“…Most works of literature employ the OSGi technology to deploy a gateway for smart home application or Internet of things (IoT), vehicular network and so no. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13]. Fewer works of literature employ it to handle the rich applications, such as multimedia.…”

“…Previously, Earth‐based assets were responsible for providing navigation parameters such as computation of ranging signals,() using inertial measurements and through observation of orbital determinations. All of these methods require high computations that are not suitable for M2M communication architecture, as usually a typical node in such architecture comprises of 1Gb of memory and a standby time using 2.5 Ah battery.…”
