Respostas fisiológicas de recém-nascidos pré-termo submetidos à musicoterapia clássica

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the physiological effects of music therapy on hospitalized preterm newborns. Methods: A noncontrolled clinical trial including 12 newborn infants with gestational age ≤36 weeks, spontaneously breathing. The preterm infants were submitted to 15-minute sessions of classical music therapy twice a day (morning and afternoon) for three consecutive days. The variables: heart and respiratory rates, oxygen saturation, diastolic and systolic arterial pressures, and body temperature were analyzed b… Show more

“…In relation to body temperature, in this study, it can be observed that there was statistical significance associated with the musical intervention, which differs from another study that also assessed the effects of music therapy on the physiological responses of preterm newborns hospitalized with spontaneous breathing, not finding statistical significance in this variable (15) .…”

Studies show music therapy as a way to promote improvement of clinical and social status in preterm newborns, improving, among other conditions, heart and respiratory rate, level of 4 oxygen saturation, decreasing crying episodes 9,10 and thus, promoting quality of sleep 11 . However when hospitalized in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit while receiving care that optimize their chances of survival, these newborns often do not receive appropriate interactions for their clinical and social development.…”

“…A utilização da música como uma cadência harmônica pode auxiliar na regularização do ritmo respiratório, melhora do período de sono e relaxamento da musculatura do RN. 58 A musicoterapia pode ser fornecida através de fones de ouvido, de pequenos alto-falantes dentro da incubadora ou do lado de fora. Porém, é importante que não exceda os níveis seguros de som, a intensidade do estímulo auditivo e a duração.…”
