Responses of tree seedlings to understory filtering by the recalcitrant fern layer in a subtropical forest

Abstract: The recalcitrant understory fern layer is an important ecological filter for seedling regeneration, yet how the fern layer influences seedling regeneration dynamics remains unclear.
