Responses of plant growth, physiological, gas exchange parameters of super and non-super rice to rhizosphere temperature at the tillering stage

Abstract: Temperature is one of the critical factors affecting rice growth and yield production. This study investigated the effects of rhizosphere temperature at the tillering stage on the growth, physiological parameters and gas exchange attributes of two rice cultivars, i.e., the super rice cultivar Yuxiangyouzhan and the non-super rice cultivar Xiangyaxiangzhan, under hydroponic conditions. Three rhizosphere temperature treatments, i.e., a low-rhizosphere-temperature treatment (LT, nutrient solution at 17.5 ± 1.5 °C… Show more

“…The malondialdehyde (MDA) and antioxidant activities were measured as described method by Li et al 65 . MDA was reacted with thiobarbituric acid (TBA), and the absorbance of the reaction solutions was recorded at 532 nm, 600 nm, and 450 nm.…”

“…For example, Taoyuan, Yunnan Province, China, had higher grain yield than other rice planting sites (Katsura et al, 2008), hence prevailing climatic conditions have huge impact in the growth and overall productivity of rice (Borrell et al, 1998;Jiang et al, 2015;2016). The different environmental conditions results in the difference in temperature and radiation which ultimately affected grain yield formation in rice (Katsura et al, 2008;Mo et al, 2015;Li et al, 2019;Liu et al, 2019a;2019b).…”

“…Roles of N fertilizer on yield and quality in fragrant rice were detected (Mo et al 2019). And N application affected yield or growth under adverse environments such as high temperature and cadmium stress had been reported (Liu et al 2019;Zaid and Mohammad 2018).…”

“…Fresh samples (0.30 g) were homogenized with 3 ml PBS in an ice bath and were centrifuged at 8000 rpm for 15 min at 4°C; the supernatant was used for the determination of SOD, POD, CAT activity, and MDA content (Lee and Lee 2000;Li 2000;Li et al 2019).…”
