Responses of Four Types of Winter Wheat to Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl

Abstract: Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl is a selective grass herbicide that if registered will provide winter wheat growers with an additional weed control option. Field experiments were established in the fall of 2011, 2012 and 2013 at Ridgetown and Exeter, Ontario, to determine the sensitivity of four market classes of winter wheat [Soft white winter wheat (SWWW), soft red winter wheat (SRWW), hard white winter wheat (HWWW) and hard red winter wheat (HRWW)] to 1X and 2X fenoxaprop-p-ethyl/safener at early-(EPOST) or late-post em… Show more

“…Hess and Weller (2000) stated that the increase of these components can reduce the translocation of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl in the wheat crop, making it tolerant to this herbicide. Belfry and Sikkema (2015) described as excellent the tolerance of four wheat cultivars submitted to the application of a commercial formulation of fenoxaprop-pethyl + mefenpyr-diethyl.…”

“…14,15 The selectivity of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl on wheat is also improved with the presence of the safener mefenpyr-diethyl. 16 Herbicides used in association with safeners represent approximately 30% of the global value of herbicide sales. 17 Safeners are bioactive organic compounds which when applied in combination with herbicides have the ability to decrease crop sensitivity sufficiently to prevent herbicide damage, without reducing the herbicide effect on the target weed species.…”
