Response to the COVID-19: Understanding implications of government lockdown policies

Abstract: The rising number of COVID-19 cases and economic implications of lockdown measures indicate the tricky balancing act policy makers face as they implement the subsequent phases of 'unlock'. We develop a model to examine how lockdown and social distancing measures have influenced the behavioral conduct of people. The current situation highlights that policy makers need to focus on bringing awareness and social restraint among people rather than going for stringent lockdown measures. We believe this work will hel… Show more

“…Despite this, little research has examined the moderating role of participation in a mentorship program on the relationship between parental neglect in adolescence and adolescents’ depression, particularly in the South Korean context, nor has there been a great emphasis on the effect of adolescents’ satisfaction with the mentorship program on these relationships. At the time this study was conducted, in April 2021, the world was still combatting the COVID-19 pandemic; however, in South Korea, schools were partially reopened beginning in June 2020, did not have a full-scale lockdown, and had a comparatively low mortality and case rate compared with other countries [ 25 , 26 , 27 ]. With this in mind, in this study we address the following research question: Among adolescents from low-income households participating in a mentorship program, does satisfaction with the mentorship program moderate the relationship between parental neglect and depression?…”

“…Despite the relatively recent nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, a body of formal research is emerging examining various (economic and other) aspects, although some data are either unavailable or coming out with a lag (see Alfano and Ercolano (2020) , Asongu et al (2020) , Baldwin et al (2020) , Farzanegan et al (2020) , Goldberg et al (2011) , Ioannidis et al (2020) , Kumar et al (2021) ). The aspects related to corruption in the vaccine rollout process have not yet been formally examined.…”

“…The author of [4] supports this point of view: "[CLDs] have the potential to be converted into Stock and Flow diagrams that allow quantification of results". For example, CLDs can be used to extend the traditional SIR-type system dynamic models to make them more realistic and useful for decision making [22]. The most essential system components identified in this review can guide the choice of variables in models.…”

“…This search yielded 12 papers. Seven out of these were discarded from the further analysis, as they focused either only on the virus spread itself, i.e., being epidemiological models, e.g., [22], or on a too-narrow phenomenon, e.g., [23] focusing on the routine childhood immunization or [24] focusing on the development of branchless banking. One of the remaining five papers was a conference paper [25] that then was developed into a journal article by the same author and contained the same CLD, so we also disregarded this conference paper from our analysis and included only the journal article [2].…”
