Abstract

General comments A huge effort would have gone into compiling these records and the manuscript represents an important contribution to the PAGES2K network and the palaeoclimate community more generally. My main comments relate to providing some additional information so readers can more easily assess old vs. new age-depth models and reproduce them, together with more of a critique about causes of differences and factors to be aware of. At present this is not possible, which detracts from the value of the paper.
