“…Tolerance to and accumulation of HMs in plants are genetically determined and significant polymorphism of these traits exists on a species level governing intraspecific variations between varieties and populations (McLaughlin et al 1997;Lindberg and Greger 2002). Particularly, considerable variability in Cd tolerance was found among varieties of pea (Belimov et al 2003a) and Indian mustard ), cultivars of rice (Cardoso et al 2002), ecotypes of Cistus ladanifer (Kidd et al 2004) and clones of various willow species, including Salix viminalis, Salix caprea, Salix fragilis, Salix purpurea and Populus nigra (Dos Santos Utmazian et al 2007a;Lindberg and Greger 2002;Puschenreiter et al 2010).
