Response of Red Clover to Kimberley Electric Furnace Iron Sl4g and Other Liming Materials

The macro and micro element composition of leaves from new and fruiting canes of eight red raspberry (Rubus idueus L.) clones was determined at various times during the growing season. Genotype, cane age and sampling time affected leaf levels of 12 elements and nitrate-nitrogen. These factors must be considered in assessing foliar analysis data. Leaf concentrations of N, P, K, Mg, S and Cu were higher for new canes whereas leaves from fruiting canes contained higher concentrations of Mn, Ca, Fe, Zn, A1 and B. Elemental concentrate changed rapidly during periods of high metabolic activity in the spring and during the late summer and fall. Sampling during the early fruit harvesting period was best as leaf composition was relatively stable.
