“…77 Many microcosm and mesocosm studies have observed impacts of ENMs on microbial communities, 42,43,45,92 while others have not. 39,40,93 In agreement with previous work, 32,94 we observed distinct impacts of Ag 0 and Ag 2 S NPs on microbial communities and found Cu 2+ to have greater impacts on microbial communities than CuO NPs. However, where we observed highly similar impacts of CuO and CuS NPs, previous work with a eukaryotic organism found CuO and CuS NPs to have differential impacts.…”

“…In all experiments, the concentrations of nitrite and nitrate remained stable throughout the whole operation period, even in the control bioreactor. These observations correspond to the previous AGS studies wherein CuO NPs and Ag NPs did not influence the removal efficiency of these components [5,6]. In contrast, at 25 mg/L GO NPs, NH 4 -N concentration in the effluent increased marginally after 5.5 day and was 2.39 mg/L after 7 days.…”

“…This finding is also supported by the results of the decreased SDH activity with the addition of selected NSAIDs. Quan et al [41] also reported that low toxicity may increase the amount of EPS content, but high toxicity may reduce it.…”
