“…Most known carbonate platforms experienced a severe biocalcification crisis coeval with OAE-2, with shallow water deposits abruptly overlain by facies containing calcispheres and planktic foraminifera, which is an evidence of the demise and eventual drowing of the platform system (e.g., Caus et al, 1997;Jenkyns, 1991;Korbar et al, 2012).
