Background: Rice self-sufficiency is still a great concern in Indonesia; in order to feed the population of 270 million people, farmers must implement new technology to boost rice production. This study aimed to provide information on the differences between direct seed planting and its conventional counterpart in terms of productivity and farmer income. Secondly, we aimed to characterize the productivity and farmer income for two legowo planting systems (legowo 4:1 and legowo 2:1). Finally, farmers’ perceptions of the legowo implementation were evaluated. Methods: This study was carried out in Konawe District at the farm level in Karandu Village, Anggotoa Sub District of Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The research design was implemented to allow comparison between legowo 4:1 and legowo 2:1. 60 farmers who implemented legowo 2:1 and legowo 4:1 respectively, were selected. Moreover, 30 farmers who did not implement both 4:1 and 2:1 were selected as the conventional planting method. This research design was implemented in order to compare between legowo and non legowo planting systems, as mentioned above, 60 respondents will compare with 30 farmers in terms of yield and economic advantage. Lastly, in order to determine technological perceptions, a total of 150 farmers were interviewed. Results: The study case results showed that direct seed planting is much more profitable than its conventional counterpart. The introduction of legowo 4:1 was highly significant in boosting rice production compared to legowo 2:1. In terms of perception, we found that the low cost and the availability of legowo are the most important parameters for the adoption of this technology. Conclusions: In summary, we recommend the implementation of the legowo 4:1 planting system to boost rice productivity. By reducing labor costs, the direct seeding method increased farmers’ income.

Climate change, especially global warming, affects plant physiology and crop yields. Jajar Legowo (Jarwo) planting system, with the existing planting alleys that some farmers have applied, needs to be sufficiently identified for changes in microclimate factors, growth, and rice yield. This study aims to identify the microclimate factors, growth, and rice yield in this planting system. The research was designed through field experiments in rice fields with the Jarwo 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 planting systems. The research variables included microclimate factors (temperature, humidity, and light intensity), rice growth, and yield. The results showed that the sunlight intercept in each Jarwo planting system was not different. The highest average temperature was recorded in the Jarwo 2:1 system and the lowest in the Jarwo 4:1. The highest average humidity was recorded in the Jarwo 4:1 system and the lowest in the Jarwo 2:1 system. The study's results noted no significant difference in the variables of plant height, total number of tillers, number of productive tillers, and grain weight per panicle. The observation of grain weight per clump Jarwo 3:1 is significantly different from Jarwo 4:1. The existence of alleys in the Jarwo planting system does not significantly affect plant growth and yield.

Ketersediaan unsur fosfor menjadi salah satu faktor pembatas untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman padi. BPF memiliki kemampuan untuk melarutkan fosfat dalam tanah dari bentuk yang tidak larut menjadi fosfat dalam bentuk larut. Penambahan pupuk TSP dengan dosis yang rendah mampu meningkatkan ketersediaan unsur hara fosfor dalam tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari pemberian interaksi bakteri pelarut fosfat dan pupuk fosfor serta untuk mendapatkan dosis terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan padi sawah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan bulan Januari-April 2020 di Laboratorium Biologi FMIPA dan Kebun Percobaan FAPERTA, UNRI. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu pemberian dosis pupuk fosfor (P) dengan 3 taraf yaitu 0, 0,25 dan 0,50 g per polybag dan pemberian BPF dengan 3 taraf yaitu 35, 40 dan 45 ml per polybag. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian interaksi BPF dan pupuk fosfor berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter laju pertumbuhan tanaman, laju asimilasi bersih, tetapi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan dan rasio tajuk akar. Interaksi perlakuan terbaik dari hasil penelitian yaitu pada pemberian BPF dosis 45 ml per polybag dan pupuk fosfor dosis 0,50 g per polybag.
