Abstract:Respiratory viral infections with influenza A virus (IAV) or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) pose a significant threat to public health due to excess morbidity and mortality. Dysregulated and excessive inflammatory responses are major underlying causes of viral pneumonia severity and morbidity, including aberrant host immune responses and increased risk for secondary bacterial infections. Currently available antiviral therapies have not substantially reduced the risk of severe viral pneumonia for these patho… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
