PurposeThis study primarily aims to analyse stakeholder management challenges and how these emerge in the stakeholder landscape in a large hospital project. From this analysis, the authors aim to identify the implications that stakeholder management has on value creation in a hospital project.Design/methodology/approachThe research method is qualitative. Empirical data were collected in three cycles: project internal documentation, thematic interviews and survey. The literature related to hospital projects, stakeholder analysis and management, stakeholder salience and landscape is summarised, informing the qualitative design of the study.FindingsThe authors noted the importance of project-specific stakeholder identification, salience analysis and landscape description. The regulatory, formal and contractual stakeholders give an over-simplistic picture on stakeholder map. The operative stakeholder map and landscape describe the complexity, uncertainty, dynamism and institutional context inducing the challenges for the stakeholder management. There is an evident potential of utilising the stakeholder landscape and its elements in the resulting collaborative value creation in hospital projects. Multiple and changing stakeholders with differing expectations are an important opportunity to improve the value creation process.Originality/valueStakeholder management has recently attracted much attention in the industrial project setting. This research attempts to identify the operative stakeholder landscape in a large hospital project, not to mention its impact on value creation. This study offers a framework that can help academics and project management practitioners tackle the challenges amongst project stakeholders.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the impact of goal compatibility on value co-creation in a retailer–manufacturer outsourcing relationship. This paper also examines whether power balance, information symmetry and duration of engagement influence the above causal relationship. Design/methodology/approach The study used a structured questionnaire to test the relationship between goal compatibility and value co-creation through power balance and information symmetry, along with the moderating role of duration of the engagement. The instrument was administered to 230 top and senior management representatives from manufacturing firms located in 11 major Indian industrial cities. Findings Goal compatibility is significantly related to value co-creation. The results had also shown that power balance and information symmetry mediated the relationship between goal compatibility and value co-creation. Research limitations/implications Future researchers should examine these complex phenomena across more diverse industries and settings to enhance generalizability. Data should be gathered from both side of the channel dyad. Data should be also collected longitudinally to extend the current cross-sectional design. Practical implications Understanding the association between goal compatibility and value co-creation, with mediating and moderating factors can provide useful information to strengthen the inter-organizational relationship with maximizing mutual benefits. Originality value This research offers new insights into the links between goal compatibility and value co-creation. The retailers engaged in outsourcing can use these value drivers to understand their manufacturer and their respective priorities for value co-creation.

With the increasingly serious global carbon emission problem, how to reduce carbon emissions has attracted a great deal of attention from academics and practitioners. Carbon emissions can be decreased more efficiently by coordinating the management of firms upstream and downstream in the supply chain, which has an increasingly important role in the low carbon process. Research on the low carbon supply chain (LCSC) has gradually evolved into important branches of global sustainable development. This paper aims to conduct a complete thematic analysis of 754 articles published between 2012 and 2021, identify the structural dimensions of evolution, and classify them according to systematic methodology. It provides a stage-by-stage summary of relevant research results from the past decade. At present, research in the LCSC field has resulted in a complete theoretical framework and research system and has formed the evolutionary path of method-policy-practice research. This study will help to promote further in-depth study of the LCSC and the fabrication and improvement of its theoretical system. It provides a valuable reference for researchers interested in LCSC, and points out the focus and direction of future research.
